OUR FUTURE PLANS ON STUDYING ABROAD

Hello for the last time!!

We are here today to say goodbye to this blog in which we wanted to share with you our recent experience and our view about travelling, so what could be better to end this blog than telling you our future plans??? They obviously involve travelling and studying abroad, which is the actual title of the blog!
So, how should we start? Probably from our current situation. We’re almost 16 and we’re finishing our compulsory education in Murcia, Spain. When we finish it, we want to keep studying and preparing for university. I will take the humanistic path (Sara) and I want to study sciences (Flora). We aren’t not completely sure about the degree we’ll choose, but we are sure we want to go to university.
The point is which one? Or even better, where? We think we have said we love travelling a few times, so we imagine you suppose we want to go abroad during university. The problem is that the university is expensive enough on its own, to add it a trip, so we thought the best idea would be studying and travelling at the same time. This means studying abroad. For that we have to study a lot so that we can get a scholarship to go wherever we want. We have looked for some scholarship programmes, and we have found lots of them.
I (Flora) want to study medicine, and I have found that in Finland there are some scholarships to study medicine in a Finnish university. I know I’ll have to work hard, but I dream with studying abroad, and I think Finland would allow me to get a great qualification. However, if I don’t get the scholarship, I guess I’ll go to the UK or to the USA, because there are more scholarships and it’s more probable that I get one of them. Anyway, I’m positive about getting one of them and travelling really far.
In contrast, I’ve decided (Sara) I’ll try to get a scholarship to study in New Zealand, where speaking foreign languages, which is my passion, will be essential for me. I’m also very positive and I expect to get the scholarship, but if it doesn’t happen I can always go to the UK or the USA as Flora, where I’ll enjoy a lot the experience.
Well, this is the end of our story, past, present and future. We hope you have enjoyed reading us and it would be amazing that we’ve helped you clear your mind. If not, we always recommend you travel as much as you can and you never stop doing it, no matter how hard or frightening it is.
Thank you so much and we hope next time we write will be from another place of the world.
Bye bye!!!!

OUR EXPERIENCE

Welcome back!!!!
Today we’re very excited because we’re finally telling you what we did during the whole week we stayed in France.
The first thing to say is where we went in France. Well, this is quite difficult to explain although it seems estrange. All the French studied in the same school, which was in a village called “La Boisse”. It was in the South-East of France, near Lyon and also near the Alps. But we didn’t stay in that village.
For a week, we lived with two different families, half a week with one family and the other half with the other family. This was because there were more French that Spanish, so they kind of “shared” us. For both of us, our families lived in the same village, but for other Spanish, their two French lived far from each other.
So, all the Spanish were with two French teenagers. The organisation for the week was the following: Monday to Friday morning we did some activities in their school, had some classes with them and made some visits. The weekend was spent in family, and each one went to visit different places. the following Monday morning and evening we did some activities and had some classes as well because it was our last day, and Tuesday we left in the early morning.
Both of us were very pleased with the treatment the family and the teenagers gave us. They were all really nice and made us feel like at home.
With the French, we went to the Alps and we played volleyball, and although we weren’t good at all and we lost, we felt like we had won. Also, the Spanish got on really well, especially during our visits to two museums, the “Musée des Confluences” and the “Gallo-Romain Museum” where we learnt a lot about romans and history in French!!! We were quite worried of not understanding what the guide was telling, but surprisingly we understood almost everything!!!
Other visits we made together were the medieval city of “PerougeS” where we learnt about the history of its doors which don’t exist, and its walls. There was a beautiful church as well. The last thing we visited was an eco-farm where we were explained how they look after the stock and we saw how they milked the cows.
Well, to sup up, we want to say this was one of the best experiences of our lives and we would definitely repeat it as many times as we can. We learnt how to live together with foreign people, but also with each other and people we already know. We finally got very close and made great friendships we won’t forget.
The best part is that they’re coming in March so we’ll show them how we live here, which is completely different, and our intention is to take the French out to dinner to typical places from our region.
We hope you liked it and that we have encouraged you to go on with this thrilling adventure.
Hugs!!

TYPES OF JOURNEYS FOR TEENAGERS

Hi, again!

How are things? We hope everything’s OK. Well, today is our first day uploading something related to travelling, so, to introduce the topic a bit, we are talking about types of journeys for teenagers and their advantages. That is, mostly, school trips, exchanges… and studying abroad for longer time.
Well, probably the most affordable ones, and as a result, the most common ones, are school trips. They can be really varied, but when we think about a school trip we mean a one - week trip with all your classmates and teachers to visit a part of your country or region. The problem is the price, because many parents can say these trips are usually very expensive and they don’t let their children go. In these cases, few things can be said to change their minds, but if there’s someone in this situation with his parents, maybe the organization of the trip can make it cheaper. In our experience, we have gone to some trips like these, for less than 100 euros, so the key is to look for specific places to go which don’t cost too much money.
Another possibility, is to make an exchange, which is a really unique experience and that makes it even more exciting. The fact of meeting new foreign people drives teenagers crazy. And they’re right!!! As we said in our presentation, we are going to talk about our stay in France with an exchange, but that will be next week. For now, what we can advance is that we’ve had an INCREDIBLE time there, and honestly, we didn’t want to come back!!! So, the advantages of these trips for teenagers are boundless: they get to know new people, they practice a foreign language, they visit new places, they learn how other people live… and we could continue for hours.
And the last one we wanted to mention is studying abroad, which is another point we’ll talk in this blog the following weeks. Well, what can we say about this? We don’t have words to express our anxiety about being able to study abroad. We wish it would be easier to get a scholarship or enough money to afford it. In our entry about our plans for studying abroad, we’ll talk about it with more details and what we had thought we could do. For now, we can say that if someone’s able to do it, we strongly recommend it, and we ask that person for lots of pictures of wherever he or she goes!!!
Well, these are the three trips we think are more common in a teenager’s life. What we wanted with these enumeration is to make people think about opportunities we have in life and make them lose their fears, because they only stop us from what we really want.
With this final reflection we finish and we’ll see you next week.
Bye!!!!!
